The works at Libertadores de América Stadium are in progress at a very high speed, specially in the four Bocas del Diablo (Devil’s Mouths). Next week, concrete works in Boca del Diablo #2, the area with the highest degree of progress, will be completed. On the other hand, workers will start painting the seats of all the stands and “Bocas del Diablo” (the photos show just painting samples).
On Wednesday, September 17 and before the match against Gimnasia de Jujuy, the Reds entered the field with a big flag saying “Fuerza Osky”, with the purpose of expressing its support to Oscar Ustari, former goalkeeper of Independiente now playing for Getafe and who was injured during the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Ariel Quassi ended his participation in the Para-Olympic Games. On Thursday, he reached the 8th position in the classification for the 200- meter Medley final with the following time: 3 minutes, 47 seconds. In the afternoon, he came 7th with 3 minutes, 42 seconds; with this time, he reached his best historical record and obtained a Para-Olympic diploma.
Dominic Monaghan, famous for the Lord of the Rings movies and the TV series Lost, visited Argentina and wore Independiente’s t-shirt. In an interview for “Caiga Quien Caiga (CQC)” TV program, reporter Clemente Cancela, a confessed Red fan, gave the actor a t-shirt of our club.
The greatest idol of the 21st Century talked about the match against Racing with the same frankness and naturalness with which he made his debut with Independiente’s first division when he was only 15 years old.
Among other issues dealt with at a night meeting, Club Atlético Independiente’s Management Board defined the day on which the New Libertadores de America Stadium will be opened: November 25, 2008.
